We can call our Custom Navy Military Rings classic because they meet all of the requirements according to the definition of the word. The definition as we saw it reads as follows: 1. of the highest class, esp in art or literature 2. serving as a standard or model of its kind; definitive 3. adhering to an established [ ]

Should the Air Force Academy use Confidential Informants?
The Air Force Inspector General has been ordered to investigate the case of former Air Force Academy cadet Eric Thomas, who was expelled in April for actions Thomas said were part of his work as a confidential informant for the academy. There may be a question of whether this practice is ethical or not which [ ]

Are We Seeing Signs of things to Come in Afghanistan?
Reports that Afghan National Security Forces have been handing over checkpoints to the Taliban in locally arranged peace deals have recently surfaced concerning the conflict taking place there. I personally don t doubt that this is the case at all. Americans have the inherent fallacy of believing that no matter where we go in the world [ ]

Has the Aircraft Carrier Seen it’s Last War?
Now of course I know that the aircraft carrier as a weapon will always exist but I do believe that in future wars there will have to be some major changes in order for the carrier to remain a functional and viable weapon. The carrier s biggest advantage is also it s greatest disadvantage which is [ ]

What's Up Mr McCain?
What's Up Mr McCain? The word on capitol hill is that Senator John McMain is blocking the nomination of President Obama’s nominee to be the director of National Intelligence. Retired General John R Clapper was unanimously approved by the Senate Intelligence Committee to be the new intel chief but for whatever reason Senator McCain wants to play games and block the nomination.
The stated reason is that he is supposedly holding up the nomination until General Clapper provides him with a document. The naure of this document is undisclosed but it seems to have nothing to do with the General’s nomination. This is just a bunch of Mr McCain’s political shenanigans that no one other than Senator McCain can have a reason for. Politics is one thing but business is another. Whether he likes President Obama or not is not the point. We need to get this man in office so that he can begin to do the job that we need him to do. I could see holding up the nomination if there was a legitimate reason to but this is just a little bit silly. This is the kind of prank that I would expext an elementary school child to pull, not one of the highest ranking leaders of this country.
We should not be petty minded in our dealings. We need to do what’s right. We don’t need to play games when the national security of this country is at stake. Now let me say that I don’t know anything at all about General Clapper. I do not know whether he is qualified for the job or not so I will have to take the word of the Senate Intelligence Committand assume that he is capable of performing the new job. If they vouch for him he must be OK. So as far as the military ring man is concerned let’s put this man to work so that he can contribute to this countries peace and security.

The New F-35 Lightning II
The New F-35 Lightning II The new F-35 Lightning II is the newest single seat, single engine, multirole, stealth, fighter. This multirole fighter has been designed to replace several aircraft in use now. It will replace the F-16, the A-10, the F/A-18, and the AV-8B.
Right away the thing that jumps out at me is the fact that one airplane will replace so many other different aircraft with so many varied functions. I can see how it will be so much easier to support and maintain. The first thing which jumps out at me is the fact that there will be so many fewer spare parts to keep track of and to maintain. That translates into a huge savings right off of the bat. Also when you look at the variety of missions that it performs you should notice that you don’t have to train a variety of pilots on a lot of different aircraft. This alone will result in a savings of billions of dollars required to train our Pilot’s ring customers on a variety of aircraft.
The F-35 is second to the F-22 Raptor as a fighter plane. It is 4x more effective than any other existing fighter, 8x more effective than any existing air to ground combat aircraft, and 3x more effective than any existing recon and Air Defense suppression air craft.
The F-35 has better range and is easier to maintain than the aircraft that it eill replace but check this out. The fighter does not have to point at the target that it shoots at because of the helmet technology that it uses. The pilot merely has to use the display in his helmet to sight, and fire at his target.

Marines are not Filling out the Don’t Ask Survey
Marines are not Filling out the Don’t Ask SurveyMarines are not Filling out the Don’t Ask Survey
August 2, 2010 posted by OldWarriorcomments (0) Marine Corps ring customers are not filling out the surveys about the don’t ask don’t tell policy that the armed forces now has. There needs to be a certain number of the surveys done before the powers that be can conduct some kind of evaluation to determine how effective the policy is and what needs to be changed. I can tell them though that it will not happen.
Let the military ring man drop a little knowledge on you about the situation. I was once a young officer in an Artillery Battalion where one such survey was passed out for us to fill out. This particular survey was about our Battalion Commander who’s real name was James B. It asked us what we thought about him and supposedly our information would remain anonymous to the commander. Even though the entire Officer’s Corps talked about him like a dog behind his back I was the only fool honest enough to say what I really thought. Now as you can see I was not the sharpest knife in the drawer by any means and I wouldn’t do the same thing if it happened today, but I did at the time and paid for it dearly. The survey was set up so that he could find out who said what as everyone else had sense enough to know.
Once I got myself put on his hit list there was no amount of butt kissing that would get me back in his good graces. I didn’t try to kiss his butt to get there because it would not have worked anyway. This was the lesson that cost me my career because I never did recover from the pen whipping that that colonel (small c) put on me.
These Marine Corps ring customers and everyone else in my unit had a whole lot more sense than I did so let me tell the powers that be this; even if you coerce them into filling out the surveys you won’t get accurate results because they know better than to tell you the truth. Can you handle the truth?

The Taliban Offers to Exchange the Body of a Serviceman for Prisoners
The Taliban Offers to Exchange the Body of a Serviceman for Prisoners Supposedly the Taliban has offered to exchange the body of a Navy serviceman for prisoners who were captured in an ambush. They have reported that the two were ambushed when the drove the vehicle that they were in into a Taliban stonghold by mistake. Now if the Taliban did offer a prisoner exchange I don’t know what kind of math that they were using. One dead body does not equate to live prisoners, I don’t care how you divide it.
The two may have gotten lost when they took a turn on a good paved road which they could have mistaken for the main road. In this case the main road was not in good condition. What most Americans don’t realize is that sometimes paved roads are hard to find in other countries. I can see how they could have made this mistake. You would naturally assume that the main road is the good one.
The US and NATO have verified that the two went missing and a search is underway. They have been sending out patrols, setting out fliers, and are offering a $20,000.00 reward for information leading to their rescue. Afghan officials say thet the two did not inform them in advance that they would be travelling through the area. I would assume that since these two were Navy ring personnel that they were SEALs, but the Navy has not identified the type of unit that they were in.
The biggest question is why were they out alone? This is a mystery to me since I am a military man and I know that things are not usually done that way. Now I can be wrong but it seems to me that these two men were on some kind of mission of their own. Maybe it was work related and they thought that they could quickly take care of business and return. Sometimes its when things seem like they will be easy that you encounter your biggest problems.
