http://mrnashia.wordpress.com/2010/05/17/what-is-an-army-pathfinder/Now I am 100% sure that the vast majority of our custom military ring customers who are not in the Army don’t know anything about Pathfinders so the military ring man is here to educate you today.

You all know what a paratrooper does and how he will be dropped into an area to perform specific missions which I wrote about yesterday. I also wrote about air mobile troops who are inserted rather than dropped into an area. Well before they go in to do their thing the pathfinder needs to go in and do his thing. The pathfinder can belong to either of these types of units but he is much more than an infantry soldier

The pathfinder is sent ahead to prepare the drop zone for occupation. He must mark the drop zone and direct the activities of the paratroopers when they land to help them to quickly organize and move out of the area.

The pathfinder must be proficient in ground to air communications, air traffic control, sling loading operations as well as advanced infantry tactics and techniques. He also sets up pickup zones, and copter landing sites along with his other duties. Many light infantry custom military ring customers strive to be a part of this elite organization.
