http://mrnashia.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/know-when-to-move/The biggest mistake that most of us make when it comes to timing is
that we want to wait until all conditions seem to be ideal before we
make our move. This is a mistake because we should look at conditions
as a gauge rather then as the holy grail.
Let me talk about my favorite sport now in order to explain this. When
an experienced fisherman goes fishing he will take a wide variety
of lures with him. You never really know what the fish will want to
eat that day. He will also take several different types of live and
dead bait with him. There have been times when the very last lure
that I pulled out of my tackle box was the one which worked. A lure
may work today and not work at all tomorrow. Conditions may seem to
be exactly the same on both days
All conditions will never be perfect at the same time. Sometimes one
thing may be way out of line and all else will be perfect.
During Operation Desert Storm ground commanders kept saying that they
were not ready to fight the war. They were looking at the fact that
they were severely outnumbered. President Bush kept saying you are
ready to them because he was looking at a different set of conditions.
By one standard we were able and by another we were not.
Numbers were an issue but not as big an issue as the ground commanders
thought. Numbers didn’t have to be even for us to win. If the president
had been caught up in numbers he may never have given the order to go.
It turned out that we were more than ready.
