Taliban Fighters Capture Forty Pakistani Troops I am having a hard time figuring this one out. During a conflict between Pakistani soldiers and Taliban fighters from both Afghanistan and Pakistan forty Pakastani soldiers were captured and another ten were killed. Five of the Pakistani soldiers were later released by the Afghanistan Taliban for some unknown reason.
This has got to be a collossial embarassment for the Pakastani government. Now maybe they will get serious about doing something about helping to fight the Taliban in their country. Our government has been frustrated with their footdragging for some time. When it comes to fighting the Taliban the Pakistanis are slow to act on intelligence that they are given.
In the event in question the Taliban had used massive force to attack and overrun a Pakistani outpost. The attack was obviously a joint operation between Taliban forces on both sides of the border. Events like this are encouraging the Taliban. They see the success that they have in this type of operation as winning the war and are getting bolder in their actions.
Maybe now the Pakistani government will decide to really commit itself to fighting them in that country. If they would assist our custom military ring customers by preventing the Taliban from freely crossing in and out of their country it would be a major benefit to us in our prosecution of the war.
