Blog PageWatch out for the Alpha Strike
An Alpha Strike is the military term for an all out military attack on an enemy force. In this type of attack you throw absolutely everything that you have at the enemy with no regard for follow on actions, ammunition supply constraints or anything else. In other words you just go crazy and let it all hang out.
The purpose of this attack is to anniliate the enemy in front of you. It is not to gain ground or position but to destroy that enemy force in front of you. You shoot your best shot and once you do you are done. You are out of steam so it has to be successful.
The picture above shows a carrier strike force. This force is often used to launch an alpha strike but it is not limited to the US Navy. As you custom military ring customers know who are in the combat arms all may use this form of attack but the terminology may be a little different.
