It is an indicator that our custom military ring customers in Iraq will be able to leave that country on schedule. You may have noticed that there is less bad news coming from there lately. It is because our forces have almost completed the handoff of the country back to the Iraqis. No news is good news in this case and there definitely hasn’t been much.

The good news that I have for you today grasshopper is that the United States has turned over the control of the green zone to the Iraqi government. Now you say to me, why is this so important? What in the world does it mean? Well this is the deal. The green zone is the most heavily defended area in Iraq because it contains the heart of operational forces and most of the personnel. It is the one area where safety has to be guaranteed. The fact that it is turned over to Iraqi control indicates that we are comfortable with the job that the Iraqis are doing. You’ve come a long way baby. This makes it one of the last steps in the planned US withdrawal from Iraq.

All US combat troops are scheduled to be out of the country by the end of August. We certainly hope so for everyone’s sake to include the family members at home. Now there will be logistics troops there for some period of time, but things are looking good. Our military ring customers have done an excellent job of adjusting to and overcoming a very negative situation.
