A North Korean Guard Kills three ChineseThe Chinese who rarely criticize their North Korean allies have released a statement that a North Korean border guard has shot and killed three Chinese citizens and wounded another. The guard evidently thought that the Chinese were attempting to cross the border for ths purpose of conducting some sort of illegal trade activity. The incident occured near the North Korean border town of Dandong. The North Korean government has not acknowledged the event but neither has it acknowledged responsibility in the sinking of the Cheonan.
The Chinese are the best ally that the North Korean government has so it would certainly behoove them to play nice. China has boosted the weak North Korean economy by providing food, fuel, and financial investment.
This incident also goes to show the ruthlessness of the North Korean military. This is only one reported incident of North Korean troops killing innocent civilians at the border. Our US Army ring customers who serve in the JSA in South Korea are all too familiar with incidents of being cursed, poked, or spat on by North Korean troops.
