A Fort Bragg Colonel’s Wife is Ordered to Stay Away from his TroopsNow I am sure that this is an incident that all of my military ring customers can relate to because we have all seen it at one time or another during our military service. I am talking about when the commander’s wife tries to wear his rank. In this incident it really must have been a very serious problem because the command of a military post will normally cover up problems within its top structure.

In this case I won’t use the name of the Colonel in question but he was a brigade level commander. All of his subordinate commanders had approached him previously about the problem but he would not try to get his wife under control for whatever reason. Someone obviously took the problem to the Commanding General who called for an investigation. I looked at some of the incidents cited in the investigation and they were pretty far out there. I don’t know why this thing hadn’t been dealt with before because this commander had to command first at company and battalion level. I don’t think that she started this behavior overnight. I know that the General’s decision brought some relief to the 82nd Airborne division ring customers who were negatively affected by her actions.
